The Real Bread Campaign was founded in the United Kingdom (2008) by Andrew Whitely and aims to promote Real Bread, throughout the globe.
As a long time member and active supporter of the UK based charity, we were encouraged by the Real Bread Campaign, to launch the first network here in New Zealand.
As such, we are proud to be the founders of New Zealand 's very first Real Bread network - 'Real Bread Aotearoa'. Furthermore, Mad Hatter Bakery, is also one of only 100 bakeries worldwide, who can use the Campaign's 'loaf mark' to promote Real Bread.
Shared Mission
Working in partnership with the Real Bread Campaign, we aim to find and share ways to make bread better for us, better for our communities and better for the planet.
What is Real Bread
Real Bread has nothing to hide and is made with simple, natural ingredients and absolutely NO additives. Here's the Real Bread Campaign's basic definition:
"Made without the use of so-called processing aids or any other additives"
The Campaign's definition of Real Bread, allows any other natural ingredients, from salt and baker's yeast, to seeds, nuts, cheese, milk, malt extract, herbs, oils, fats and dried fruits... as long as they themselves contain no artificial additives.
